February First is Pete Machaiek Day




WHEREAS, Pete Machaiek has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the City of Winthrop, MN, as an elected member of the City Council since January 1992; and

WHEREAS, Pete Machaiek has been re-elected multiple times, showcasing the trust and confidence the community has placed in his leadership; and

WHEREAS, Pete Machaiek has shown profound knowledge and commitment to various city departments, with a particular passion and expertise in electric utilities; and

WHEREAS, serving as Winthrop’s representative to the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA), Pete has played a crucial role in ensuring excellent electric service for Winthrop and maintaining the lowest electric rates in the area; and

WHEREAS, Pete Machaiek, as a mentor to fellow council members, has provided invaluable guidance and thoughtful attention to every issue brought to the Council table, demonstrating a commitment to responsible decision-making; and

WHEREAS, Pete Machaiek’s legacy of civic service and dedication is a shining example for all residents of Winthrop;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Julie Trebelhorn, Mayor of the City of Winthrop, do hereby proclaim February 1st as Pete Machaiek Day. On this day, we celebrate and honor Pete’s significant contributions to our community, his tireless efforts to improve the quality of electric service, and his exemplary leadership on the City Council.
